Massage Therapy is a form of therapy that involves the manipulation of your bodyβs muscles, connective tissues, ligaments, tendons, and skin. When done by a certified and trained therapist, patients experience major health improvements.
Massage therapy has been shown to help the body enter a meditative state allowing the body to destress. Although massage therapy is known to help relax the body and mind, it also helps relieve pain and tension due to physical trauma as well as emotional stress.
Although massage therapy is beneficial on its own, Dr. Tanya recommends using it as an add-on to your regular chiropractic adjustments. Oftentimes when receiving chiropractic care, we are faced with the build-up of scar tissue and tension. This results in experiencing soreness. Massage therapy allows the body to reach a relaxed state, allowing your adjustment to go much further and to hold longer.
MASSAGE THERAPY DELIVERS RELIEF.
β SYMPTOM RELIEF β
HEADACHES
By targeting the areas that hold tension. Not only under the most strained (ie: the muscles of the temporal lobe and the face) but also the ones causing them to be under strain that could be areas like, the extensor muscles of the back, neck and chest
SOFT TISSUE STRAINS
Massage speeds up recovery time by introducing specific work to areas of interest. Myofascial therapy works with the layer of tissue that surrounds and intertwines with the injured muscle.
IMPROVES FLEXIBILTY
Deep tissue & myofascial therapy are great for improved flexibility. Removing tension from the body allows flexibility to be more accessible to our patients.
STRESS & ANXIETY
Massage works with energy pathways of the body. This helps the individual go through their own healing process.
INFERTILITY
Increases blood flow to reproductive organs, balances hormones, helps manage stress and encourages a normal menstrual cycle. It increases IVF and IUI success rates. Once you are pregnant, acupuncture can help to alleviate morning sickness and may reduce the chances of miscarriages and ectopic pregnancies.
MUSCLE RELAXATION
Massage softens tissue through different massage techniques and modalities. It relaxes the tissue into a state that hasn't been in years. Though at times people feel like deeper massage is what's best, in reality it's more specific pressure that they need.
INSOMNIA
Helping the muscles to relax, gives patients freedom to fall asleep. Many people hold on to stress and tension throughout the day. When going to sleep, that build up doesnβt just disappear. Itβs something we carry through the night as well. Oftentimes leading to insomnia or waking up the next day not feeling rested at all. Routine massages help remove the baggage of tension and stress that builds up through days or even months!
CIRCULATION
When tissues become tight, circulation in those areas becomes stagnant. We can see this through areas of the skin that become red to the touch. Massage promotes blood flow to all necessary areas to the body.
CHRONIC PAIN
For ongoing pain, massage introduces you to relaxation ultimately leading to wellbeing.
